Although his character is rumoured to have been inspired by don, Dawood Ibrahim, the makers insist he is playing the part of a man called Goldman, who works for the Research and Analysis
Wing (R&AW). However, they do add that his role is that of India’s ‘most wanted man’.“He’s playing a fictional character, but the part does draw inspiration from our history,” says a source, adding that casting Kapoor was not easy. “He was initially sceptical, but after the look test, he didn’t need any more convincing. He knew he was the right choice.”
In the same vein, Kapoor says, “Although so many others like Nikhil were been blown away by Rauf Lala (Kapoor’s role in Agneepath; 2012), I was not sure I could pull off this particular one. Then we did a look test, not to convince the director, but so I could get into the skin of the role.”
